What happens to my original photo?

Your photo is processed for the scan and stays available while you work. If you leave the search untouched for 30 days it moves to your Archive; 30 days later the image is permanently deleted, unless you keep it in your Library. The exception: if you turn on monitoring, we keep the image encrypted in EU storage so we can re-run the scan on your cadence. It's removed when you cancel the watch.

How accurate is a match?

Our visual matching catches identical copies and most edits: crops, resizes, recolors, and lightly modified versions. You review each match yourself and decide whether it's a legitimate license, a republish with credit, or unauthorized use.

How does pricing work?

Pay-per-scan with volume discounts. No subscription required. You buy credits and use them whenever.

Can I cancel my account?

Yes. Email us and we close your account, remove your images and your scan history, and confirm when it is done. Anything we are legally required to keep, such as invoices, we keep for as long as the law says and no longer.

Can I use the evidence in court?

Every letter and evidence document is sealed when we generate it: we take a SHA-256 checksum of the exact file and register it with an independent timestamping authority, so the file's content and its date can both be proven later. Anyone you send it to can verify it themselves through a public link, without an ImageTrace account. We are not a law firm and this is not legal advice, but the evidence is built to hold up.

Do you take a percentage of what I recover?

No. Never. You only pay for the scan. What you do with a match and what that earns you is entirely yours.

Why do stripped credits matter?

When a copy is missing the author credits or IPTC metadata your original carries, that removal itself strengthens your case in many jurisdictions. ImageTrace checks the copy, shows what was stripped and cites it in the demand letter.

We never take a percentage of what you recover.

Some services take 30 to 50 percent of the amount they collect on your behalf. After that, their lawyer decides what happens with your claim. That is not how we work. You stay in control: invoice directly, request takedown, or do nothing.

We are not lawyers. We do not provide legal services. What you do with the evidence is up to you.

Know which photos go out undefended.

ImageTrace scores every image in your library on the rights information it actually carries: creator, credit, copyright notice, usage terms, web statement, licensor URL. You see at a glance which files would be hard to defend, fill in what is missing without touching the original file, and set the defaults once for your whole team so new work inherits them. Download a standards-compliant XMP sidecar to apply the same values back in Lightroom or anywhere else. It also tells you whether an image meets the Google licensable requirements or an agency and newswire standard.

Work regularly with the same clients? Add their domains once and every match on those sites is labelled as licensed instead of competing for your attention, both the matches you already have and every scan after.

Your tier is determined by monthly usage across consecutive months. Miss a month below the threshold and you step down one level. So loyalty is literal.

Credits never expire. Miss a month and you keep your tier for a grace period before stepping down one level.

Demand letters are included: 100 a month at Standard, up to 1000 at Platinum. Generating one never touches your scan credits.
